Filitheyo lies between two channels on the eastern side of the North Nilande Atoll approx. 60 km south of the Ari Atoll. It is 900m long and 500m wide at the outer reef end. The great advantage of its secluded, exclusive position lies in the unexplored reef, promising superb diving for our guests.This triangular shaped island is being developed with careful consideration to the environment. Filitheyo is surrounded by a beautiful white sandy beach and is covered in dense tropical vegetation e.g. palm trees, rubber trees, mangroves and Scaebola trees which provide shade for our guests.The Diving Centers on Filitheyo Island Resort is well organized by Werner Lau and his Team.The house reef is just spectacular! On the north side it falls to more than 90 meters. 7 entry points, all served with tank shuttle service, make for easy diving on the house reef. We have already sighted mantas and whale sharks several times right on the house reef. You can go on early morning and night dives whenever you wish. Experienced divers can explore the reef together with their diving partners. It is not compulsory to be accompanied by a diving instructor.Since November 30, 2009, the house reef at Filitheyo Island offers one more attraction. KM AGRO MINA II has been used for many years as fishing boat by AAA and now lies on the North side of Filitheyo Island, its last resting place.The wreck is in an upright position on the bottom at a maximum depth of 32 meters.Before sinking the 30 meter vessel we added additional openings to it in order to facilitate the wreck penetration.Already the first marine life has moved in and not before long the first stingrays and nurse sharks will surely follow… Furthermore we are offering around 30 different diving sites. This pristine area and the reefs within it are exclusive to divers from Filitheyo. This is a privilege which cannot be overestimated.Medhufushi:Medhufushi lies to the east of the Meemu-Atoll, which is 300 km south of Male. The island is 900 meters long and about 90 meters wide. There are only two tourist islands in the whole of this atoll. Medhufushi features an exceptionally beautiful lagoon which is ideal for learning to dive in -not to mention swimming, surfing and sailing. The virtually untouched diving sites, most of them suitable even for beginners, await you with a stunning diversity of corals and tropical fish. This elongated island is surrounded by dazzling white beaches and greatest care has been taken to develop it with as little disturbance as possible to the environment. You will find plenty of welcoming shade among the untouched tropical vegetation including palm trees, rubber plants, mangroves, and scaevola trees.The impressive SSI/CMAS/Padi- Diving School will be managed by Ingrid and Laurent. Both have been working in the Maldives for many years (previously on Vilamendhoo). They have great knowledge of and experience in this probably best diving area in the world. Both of them as well as their crew of international diving instructors are known for their very friendly service. Diving Centers Werner Lau operates 2-3 diving boats (Dhonies) which depart daily at 9.00 and 14.30. The various diving sites can be reached within 5 - 60 minutes. There is something for everyone. Many of our diving sites are situated within the atoll and they offer stress free Easy-diving, however our diving ''Profis'' will definitely not be disappointed either. Night diving by boat will be offered once or twice a week, an experience which you should not miss. 2 - 3 times a week day tours will be available which take you to the spectacular channel sites to the west of the atoll. The Dhonies visit 2 or 3 different diving areas so you can choose the reef which is most suitable for your personal interest and diving skills. We offer around 30 different diving sites and it is our good fortune that they are frequented only by divers from Medhufushi and sometimes from Hakura club. We cannot emphasise enough what an advantage this is! We are only twenty minutes by boat from the two superlative diving spots Mulah-Kandu and Mulee-Kandu.
